What your RV would earn a night in the Florida Keys
Reviewed by Ben Kiser, RV rental operator and fleet consultant.
Start with what your class already asks a night among the RVs Keys visitors can rent. Almost none of them are kept in the Keys, so an RV parked on a key starts with no delivery drive at all. Two paths follow: list it yourself, or ask about handing the work to someone else.
Median published day rate by class
A median, not an average, so one outlier does not move it. These are published day rates before tax, fees, mileage, generator hours and any delivery charge the host sets. They are what renters see, not what an owner banks.
| Class | Listed here | Share of market | Median day rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Travel trailer | 38 | 46.9% | $110 |
| Class C motorhome | 20 | 24.7% | $255.5 |
| Class A motorhome | 17 | 21% | $385 |
| Class B motorhome | 3 | 3.7% | $243 |
| Camper van | 2 | 2.5% | $210 |
| Fifth wheel | 1 | 1.2% | $160 |
Measured across all 81 listings. Median across the whole market $165, mean $261, range $68 to $1500. Anything computed decays, so re-check the live marketplace before you price against this.
Listings published by an owner with a single vehicle. One rig with one calendar is the ordinary case in this market, not the exception. 40 are dealer listings, and the largest single owner publishes 17.
Listings offering delivery, at a fee each host sets. 19.8% accept instant book. Both are decisions you make on the listing, and both change how much of your week the rental takes.
Roughly 16 listings accept a long-term stay. Keys state parks cap a stay at 14 nights, so winter visitors wanting a month go to private parks and need an RV that will stay put that long.
What the measurement cannot tell you
A day rate is not income. The marketplace publishes what a listing asks, never how many nights it books, so nothing here supports an annual earnings figure and none is printed. Utilisation, cancellation rates and the commission each marketplace keeps are all outside what was measured.
Anyone quoting you an income for a Keys RV is either using data this site does not have or making it up. Ask them which listings they measured and on what date.
Two ways to do it
List it yourself and keep the messages, the handover and the cleaning. Or ask about handing those to an operator and keeping less per night.
Owner enquiry
Tell us the class, the year and where it is parked. This is an owner form, not a renter quote form, and it books nothing. Include the length hitch to bumper and where it is kept, because those two decide which Keys campgrounds your RV can serve.
Prefer to write?
There is no phone number on this site, because there is no answered line. Email reaches a person, and an owner enquiry is easier to answer in writing anyway.
Three things a Keys listing should carry
- Length hitch to bumper. Bahia Honda's Sandspur loop measures that way and stops at 23 feet, and Outdoorsy does not say whether a listed length includes the hitch.
- A delivery radius that reaches your renters. 81 RVs reach Key Largo; only 43 reach Key West.
- The amperage. 56 of 81 publish it, and Keys sites run 30 and 50 amp.
