What it costs to rent an RV in the Florida Keys

Reviewed by Ben Kiser, RV rental operator and fleet consultant.

A week runs about $1,295 to $5,725, with the RV, the campsite, the delivery and the tax all in. Three choices decide where you land: the class, the key, and the park.

  • Outdoorsy day rates on October 8, 2026 ran $68 to $1,500. A travel trailer is cheapest, a Class A dearest.
  • Delivery is priced by the mile from the mainland, so Key West costs more to reach than Key Largo.
  • The rental carries 6% Florida sales tax. The campsite carries 12.5%.
  • A security deposit is held on top, and comes back after.

Three weeks in the Keys, priced

Each row is a median RV for its class, the park's own nightly rate, delivery at the median $4.00 a mile, and both taxes. Cleaning, extra mileage and generator hours are the host's own fees and are not in the feed, so they are not here either.

Day rates by class

The median day rate for each class, among RVs whose host can get them to Key Largo. Key West is reached by fewer listings, 43 against 81, and its median day rate is lower at $124. More of what reaches it is trailers.

Why the RV is not the whole price

Almost no RVs are parked in the Keys. They come down US-1 from Miami and Homestead, and the host charges by the mile to bring one. At the median rate, one way to Key Largo (35 road miles) is $140. One way to Key West (137 miles) is $548, which is 4.4 nights of the median RV that can reach Key West. The miles are from the Princeton rental lots, the nearest mainland pickup. Most hosts keep their RVs further north in Miami, so the real fee is the host's quote.

Outdoorsy does not say whether that fee runs one way or both. If it is both, the Key West figure doubles to $1,096. That single answer is worth more than the difference between most RVs on the list, so get it in writing before you accept.

The campsite is the other half, and it is taxed harder. A peak week at Boyd's in Key West is $1,575 before tax. At 12.5% the tax is $196.88. The same spend on the rental would carry $94.50. Rate sheets in the Keys print the rate without the tax, so add it before you compare parks.

Then the money that is held rather than spent. Every listing that can reach the Keys takes a security deposit, median $1,000, and Outdoorsy applies it to the protection deductible first if something is damaged. The guide to RV rental insurance and Outdoorsy protection explains what the deposit and the deductible cover, and why your own auto policy pays first.

The cheap site is a state park, at $36 a night plus a $7 utility fee and a $6.70 reservation fee. It caps a reservation at 14 nights. See which RVs fit each state park loop, and for longer stays, what a month costs at a private park.

Fixed fees, in full

  • Security deposit: median $1,000, range $500 to $3,000. Held, then returned.
  • Florida state parks: $36 a night plus tax, $7 a night utility fee, $6.70 nonrefundable reservation fee. Cancelling more than a day out costs $17.75 and the reservation fee.
  • Jolly Roger, Marathon: $125 to $145 a day, tax not included.
  • Boyd's, Key West: $200 to $225 a day in peak season, tax not included. The rate sheet also lists a $50 charge for double and triple axle trailers, and does not say more about when it applies.
  • Setup and take-down for a delivered RV: no host or company on this site publishes a fee for it. The host quotes it with the delivery, so ask for both in one message.

What the sources do not say

  • Whether a host's per-mile delivery fee is one way or round trip. Ask the host.
  • Whether the s. 212.0606 surcharge of $1 a day applies to a peer-to-peer RV rental. The statute does not mention RVs. Florida DOR can say.
  • Whether a county surtax applies to the rental itself, on top of the 6%. Florida DOR again.

Questions people ask about the price

A week runs about $1,295 to $5,725 once the campsite, the delivery and the tax are in. The low end is a travel trailer at its $110 median day rate, delivered 35 road miles to a state park in Key Largo. The high end is a Class A at its $385 median, at Boyd's in Key West in peak season, with delivery counted both ways. Day rates for RVs whose hosts can reach the Keys run $68 to $1,500, with a median of $165.

37 of the 81 listings that can reach the Keys publish a per-mile rate, and the median is $4.00. Key Largo is 35 road miles and Key West 137, so one way at the median is $140 to Key Largo and $548 to Key West. The miles are from the Princeton rental lots, the nearest mainland pickup. Most hosts keep their RVs further north in Miami, so the real fee is the host's quote. Outdoorsy does not say whether the per-mile fee runs one way or both. Ask the host, because both ways doubles it.

Florida charges 6% sales tax on the rental under s. 212.05. The campsite carries 12.5% on a stay of 6 months or less: 6% state transient rental tax, the 1.5% Monroe County surtax and the 5% Monroe County tourist tax. Whether the $1 a day peer-to-peer surcharge in s. 212.0606 reaches an RV is not stated in the statute, which does not mention RVs. Florida DOR can answer it.

No. Every listing that can reach the Keys holds a security deposit. The median is $1,000 and the range runs $500 to $3,000. It comes back after the trip, but it is off your card while you are away.

A travel trailer at a state park in the Upper Keys. The trailer has the lowest class median at $110, the state park is $36 a night plus fees, and Key Largo is the shortest delivery. The catch is the calendar: one state park reservation stops at 14 nights, and the sites go fast.
