Class B RV Rental in the Florida Keys

Reviewed by Ben Kiser, RV rental operator and fleet consultant.

A Class B is a factory van built out as a motorhome, with a bathroom inside and a body that parks like a van. It suits two people who want to move between keys rather than settle on one site. 3 can serve the Keys, around $243 a night.

Class B RV rentals you can book for the Keys

These come straight from the marketplace, so the set changes between visits. Each one is published by its owner and booked on the marketplace that published it. The live feed labels camper vans as Class B too, so the set below mixes the two classes. The counts on this page keep them apart.

Which of these suit each Keys campground

Of the 5 listed right now that publish a size, here is how many sit inside each published limit.

Leo's counts bumpers and racks, and Key West's street rule also caps width. Ask the host for both.

Some links on this page are affiliate links. A booking made after following one earns a commission from the marketplace. It adds nothing to your price and does not change which listings appear here.

What a Class B RV costs for a Keys stay

Seven nights at the $243 median is $1,701, $931 more than the middle travel trailer. The case for paying it is the length. One Class B here is 20 ft or under, and across all 42 drivable RVs that serve the Keys, it is the only one short enough to park on a Key West city street.

How a Class B RV gets to your site

All 3 offer delivery and one reaches Key West, but most renters collect on the mainland and drive. El Monte RV in Princeton rents a Class B, pickup Monday to Friday only, so a Saturday start is not possible there.

How RV delivery to the Keys works

Where a Class B RV can stay in the Keys

The 3 listed run 19 to 24 ft. The one whose host delivers to Bahia Honda fits the 23 ft Sandspur loop. Key West's street limit is 20 ft or 7 ft wide, and listings rarely publish a width, so ask the host for it before you plan to park in town.

  • The park page says most sites take 40 ft. All 3 whose hosts deliver that far are listed inside it. The reservation system lists 62, so the site you are assigned is what has to fit.

  • The cap is 70 ft. Both whose hosts deliver that far are listed inside it. Length is not the problem here; the 14-night limit is.

  • Sandspur stops at 23 ft, hitch to bumper. The one whose host delivers that far is listed inside that limit. Buttonwood, the loop for larger rigs, publishes no cap of its own.

  • Leo's takes 42 ft, counting bumpers and racks. The one whose host delivers that far is listed inside that limit. One of this class is 20 ft or under, the most an RV may be on a Key West city street.

Every Keys state park caps a stay at 14 nights, and Long Key takes no RVs at all. Booking a state park site with a rented RV

What you get in a Class B RV

Also listed as a Class B camper van. Counts are what the hosts publish on their own listings, so confirm anything that decides the trip on the listing itself.

Sleeping

Sleeps a median of 3. None sleeps more than four.

Size

19 ft to 24 ft, median 21 ft.

Licence

Florida's licence rules for driving a motorhome are not in the sources this site checked. Ask the host what their insurance requires, and confirm with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles before you book.

Driving it

It drives like a tall van. Bluewater Key RV Resort bans driving an RV once you have checked in, and exempts Class B vans from that rule, which makes this the class to rent if Bluewater is the site. None of them accepts a renter under 25 on its published terms.

What is aboard

  • A toilet and an inside shower on all 3
  • Air conditioning on 3
  • Pet friendly on 2 of the 3, set by the host

Who it suits

  • Two people moving between keys rather than staying put
  • The one drivable class with a unit short enough for a Key West street
  • A toilet and an inside shower in something that parks like a van

Class B RV rental questions

The 3 Class B RV listings that can serve the Keys run $165 to $250 a night, with the middle of the market at $243. Seven nights at that rate is $1,701 before tax and the host's fees. The campsite is a separate bill: a Keys state park is $36 a night plus tax, a $7 RV utility fee and a $6.70 reservation fee, and private parks add 12.5% tax to their published rates.

3 of the 3 listings offer delivery, at a fee and to a range each host sets, and 1 reach as far as Key West. Jolly Roger in Marathon says it works with companies that deliver and set up RVs. Florida State Parks publishes no rule on delivered rentals, and most private parks say nothing, so ask the park office before you book the RV.

In the Sandspur loop, 1 of the 1 Class B RV listings that reach Bahia Honda are listed at 23 ft or under, the loop's limit measured hitch to bumper. Buttonwood takes larger rigs and publishes no cap of its own; the reservation system's park-wide maximum is 48.

Only at a campground. Key West code keeps any RV over 20 ft long or 7 ft wide off city streets, occupied or not, and bans sleeping in a vehicle on public property. 1 of the 3 Class B RV listings is 20 ft or under, and width is rarely published. Boyd's on Stock Island, Leo's, Bluewater Key and Geiger Key are the parks to look at.

Sleeps a median of 3. None sleeps more than four. Jolly Roger allows six people per site, so count heads against the campground as well as the RV.

Book the site, then pick the Class B RV

In the Keys the campsites run out before the RVs do. Hold the site you want, then open a listing, put your dates in and ask the host about delivery to that address.
