Monthly RV rental in the Florida Keys

Reviewed by Ben Kiser, RV rental operator and fleet consultant.

A winter month in the Keys in a rented RV is two bookings: a site at a private park and an RV whose host will leave it there. Jolly Roger in Marathon publishes winter monthly sites at $3,366 to $3,698, and Boyd's in Key West runs from $2,500 off-season to $5,700 at the peak.

On the RV side, a travel trailer is the simplest answer. The host delivers it, it sits on the site for the month, and you keep your own car. Thirty nights at the middle trailer rate is $3,300 before any monthly discount the host offers.

Six months is the tax line

Florida's 6% transient rental tax, Monroe County's 1.5% surtax and its 5% tourist development tax add up to the 12.5% the parks quote, and they apply to campsite stays of six months or less. Florida Statutes s. 212.03 gives two ways past it: a written agreement for continuous residence longer than six months, signed up front, or living there longer than six months after paying the tax for the first six. Subsection (4) names a "tourist or trailer camp" rather than an RV park, so confirm how your park applies it with the Florida Department of Revenue.

Why a Keys month is a private park

Every Florida state park caps a reservation at 14 nights, wants at least 3 nights out of the park before the next one, and stops you at 56 nights in one park in six months. There are no seasonal sites.

So a state park month means moving parks: 14 nights at one, 14 at the next, and the last 2 at a third park or back at the first. Thirty nights at $36 plus the $7 RV utility fee, with three $6.70 reservation fees, is $1,310.10 plus tax. That is far cheaper than a private park, but the RV moves every time you change park, and with a delivered trailer every move is another delivery fee.

What the private parks publish

Of the Keys parks checked, four publish a monthly figure at all. Fiesta Key's "starting at $3,649 per month" is its lowest monthly price for a 12-month standard annual site, plus taxes, fees and utilities. It is not the price of a one-month stay. Sunshine Key's $5,033 is a seasonal or annual starting price. Ask both what a single month costs.

Jolly Roger takes a 50% deposit on a winter month, refundable with 30 days notice, and is the one park that says it works with companies that deliver and set up rented RVs. Its summer months run $1,959 to $3,698, and those months sit inside hurricane season, June 1 to November 30.

Monroe County's hurricane plan orders visitors, RVs and travel trailers out first, about 48 hours before tropical-storm winds when a Category 3 to 5 storm is coming. The only copy found is a November 2025 draft amendment to the county plan. A summer month is cheaper, and it is also the month most likely to end early.

Finding an RV that will stay a month

16 of the 81 RVs that can serve the Keys are flagged for long-term bookings, and 9 of those are towables. 45 publish a monthly discount, though Outdoorsy does not document how that figure is expressed, so read the price on the listing rather than trusting a percentage.

Ask the host three things before you book: whether they deliver to your park, whether they will leave the RV there for the whole stay, and who you call if something breaks in week three.

Published monthly site rates in the Keys, before and after the 12.5% campsite tax, read from each park's page on October 8, 2026
ParkPublished monthlyWith 12.5% taxWhat the price covers
Boyd's, Key West$2,500$2,813Off-season, standard 30 amp site
Jolly Roger, Marathon$3,366$3,787Winter, lowest site rate
Jolly Roger, Marathon$3,698$4,160Winter, highest site rate
Boyd's, Key West$5,400$6,075Peak, inland 50/30 amp site
Boyd's, Key West$5,700$6,413Peak, premium site

Fiesta Key's $3,649 a month is for a 12-month annual site, plus taxes, fees and utilities, and Sunshine Key's $5,033 is a seasonal or annual starting price, so neither is a one-month rate and both are left out. Rates change by season; the park's own page is the price.

Before you book

  • The site booked and paid before the RV, with the park's deposit terms in writing
  • The host's written agreement to leave the RV on that site for the whole stay
  • A written agreement for more than six months, signed before you arrive, if the stay will run that long
  • A plan for hurricane season if any of the month falls between June 1 and November 30

Questions people ask

Not at one park in one booking. Florida State Parks caps a reservation at 14 nights, requires 3 nights out of the park before the next one, and allows 56 nights in one park per six months. A month means moving between parks, and for a delivered RV each move is a host delivery.

Of the parks that publish one, Boyd's runs from $2,500 off-season to $5,700 for a premium peak site, and Jolly Roger's winter months are $3,366 to $3,698. Add 12.5% tax on any stay of six months or less, which is $421 on Jolly Roger's lowest winter month.

On a stay of six months or less, yes. Florida Statutes s. 212.03 has two ways out for longer stays: a written agreement for continuous residence longer than six months, made at the start, or staying longer than six months after paying the tax for the first six. The second path is written for a "tourist or trailer camp", so ask the Florida Department of Revenue how your park applies it.

Hold the site, then choose the RV

Campsites in the Keys go before the RVs do. Once yours is booked, open a listing, put your dates in and ask the host about delivery to that park.
