Which of these suit each Keys campground

Of the 18 listed right now that publish a size, here is how many sit inside each published limit.

Leo's counts bumpers and racks, and Key West's street rule also caps width. Ask the host for both.

What a Class C RV costs for a Keys stay

Seven nights at the $256 median is $1,792 before tax, fees and delivery. The middle travel trailer costs $146 a night less, $1,022 over a week, and the thing you pay for is the ability to drive. In the Keys that buys less than it does elsewhere. Key West keeps any RV over 20 ft off its streets, and none of the 20 Class C units is that short. Bluewater Key bans driving the RV at all once you have checked in.

How a Class C RV gets to your site

All 20 offer delivery, but only 6 publish a range that reaches Key West, so for the Lower Keys you will usually collect on the mainland and drive. Cruise America's Miami (South) location in Princeton rents 21, 25 and 30 ft Class C units, pickup only. Princeton is about 137 road miles from Key West. El Monte RV in Princeton hands over Monday to Friday only.

How RV delivery to the Keys works

Where a Class C RV can stay in the Keys

Every Class C that reaches Pennekamp is listed inside its 40 ft "most sites" figure, and every one clears Curry Hammock. None of the 18 that reach Bahia Honda fits the Sandspur loop, so ask for Buttonwood. In Key West, plan for the RV to stay at the campground and for another way into town.

  • The park page says most sites take 40 ft. All 20 whose hosts deliver that far are listed inside it. The reservation system lists 62, so the site you are assigned is what has to fit.

  • The cap is 70 ft. All 19 whose hosts deliver that far are listed inside it. Length is not the problem here; the 14-night limit is.

  • Sandspur stops at 23 ft, hitch to bumper. None of the 18 whose hosts deliver that far is listed inside it. Buttonwood, the loop for larger rigs, publishes no cap of its own.

  • Leo's takes 42 ft, counting bumpers and racks. All 6 whose hosts deliver that far are listed inside it. None of this class is 20 ft or under, so none may park on a Key West city street.

Every Keys state park caps a stay at 14 nights, and Long Key takes no RVs at all. Booking a state park site with a rented RV

What you get in a Class C RV

Also listed as a Class C motorhome. Counts are what the hosts publish on their own listings, so confirm anything that decides the trip on the listing itself.

Sleeping

Sleeps a median of 7. 18 of the 20 sleep six or more.

Size

24 ft to 33 ft, median 30 ft.

Licence

Florida's licence rules for driving a motorhome are not in the sources this site checked. Ask the host what their insurance requires, and confirm with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles before you book.

Driving it

It drives close to a large van, with a long overhang behind the rear wheels and a cab-over roof to remember at a fuel canopy. 3 of the 20 accept a renter aged 21; the rest ask for older.

What is aboard

  • A toilet and an inside shower on all 20
  • Air conditioning and a generator on 20 and 20
  • Pet friendly on 18 of the 20, set by the host

Who it suits

  • A trip that moves between two or three sites rather than one
  • Drivers who have handled nothing bigger than a van

Class C RV rental questions

The 20 Class C RV listings that can serve the Keys run $165 to $399 a night, with the middle of the market at $256. Seven nights at that rate is $1,792 before tax and the host's fees. The campsite is a separate bill: a Keys state park is $36 a night plus tax, a $7 RV utility fee and a $6.70 reservation fee, and private parks add 12.5% tax to their published rates.

20 of the 20 listings offer delivery, at a fee and to a range each host sets, and 6 reach as far as Key West. Jolly Roger in Marathon says it works with companies that deliver and set up RVs. Florida State Parks publishes no rule on delivered rentals, and most private parks say nothing, so ask the park office before you book the RV.

In the Sandspur loop, 0 of the 18 Class C RV listings that reach Bahia Honda are listed at 23 ft or under, the loop's limit measured hitch to bumper. Buttonwood takes larger rigs and publishes no cap of its own; the reservation system's park-wide maximum is 48.

Only at a campground. Key West code keeps any RV over 20 ft long or 7 ft wide off city streets, occupied or not, and bans sleeping in a vehicle on public property. None of the 20 Class C RV listings is 20 ft or under. Boyd's on Stock Island, Leo's, Bluewater Key and Geiger Key are the parks to look at.

Sleeps a median of 7. 18 of the 20 sleep six or more. Jolly Roger allows six people per site, so count heads against the campground as well as the RV.

Florida's licence rules for driving a motorhome are not in the sources this site checked. Ask the host what their insurance requires, and confirm with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles before you book.

Book the site, then pick the Class C RV

In the Keys the campsites run out before the RVs do. Hold the site you want, then open a listing, put your dates in and ask the host about delivery to that address.
